EMPOWERING STUDENTS. DEVELOPING THE WORKFORCE OF THE FUTURE
For Grades 9-12 Students
Learn how to organize and operate an actual business enterprise!
Instructional time: 13+ weeks; November 2022 through April 2023
Do you want to learn what it takes to be an entrepreneur? Interested in someday owning your own business? The JA Company Program is a virtual program that offers high school students the chance to put their ideas into action by collaborating remotely to launch and operate a startup with other students under the guidance of business professionals.
The 13+ week-long JA Company Program is the ultimate hands-on, in-depth experience for any high schooler preparing for real life, as well as the self-proclaimed student entrepreneur. By participating, students develop the technical and soft skills needed to not only become successful entrepreneurs but also to meet the demands of a rapidly changing economy in a variety of professions and careers.
Participants in the JA Company Program will:
Design, launch and run a company
Develop critical remote collaboration skills
Expand their network by meeting other passionate teens and business professionals
Discover the potential for for-profit companies to have a positive social impact
Become confident surmounting challenges and facing uncertainties
Learn how to successfully collaborate with a diverse team of individuals
Build self-confidence by sharpening existing skills and developing new skills
Prepare for college and beyond

Key Events:
Participate in supplemental workshops and speaker presentations
Pitch to investors for seed money
Sell product/service at a virtual trade show
When: November 2022 - March 2023
Student Companies will meet virtually weekly.
Each Student Company will be assigned their own Business Executive to help mentor them in this process
Technology Requirements:
All students must have video chat capability, including a webcam and microphone.
Eligibility: Open to students in 9th through 12th grade. Company size will vary depending on location, ranging from 10 to 15 students.
