Space and Bodies at Beechwood Cemetery

I am going to write a Major Research Essay on Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa. I’m particular interested in history of the body and spatial histories, so for my essay I’m hoping to combine those two interests and look at how Beechwood Cemetery functions as a public history space and the ways in which bodies - both dead and alive - interact with this space and how the space interacts with bodies. Right now some of my research questions include, how does Beechwood Cemetery function as a public history space and what are the embodied experiences of visiting Beechwood? Second, how are bodies at Beechwood Cemetery remembered or forgotten? To what extent are bodies made visible or invisible?
