Out and about | Internship

Internship period

During my third year as a Game art student I was lucky enough to work as an intern for Yaldi Games. They gave me the opportunity to create concept art and in game assets for their early access game Out and About. This internship has meant a lot to me, I am so incredibly proud of the progress I made in both my art and my self confidence and would love to share some of the work I made during this period!

Unlockable dye quest outfits

One of my favourite tasks I had the opportunity to work on was near the start of my internship. We were preparing for the big summer update and working on new content for the game.This update included a new character with his own quest line and mechanics: Kiano, the big city fashion designer. I helped create outfit concepts and helped design how the dye mechanic would work in game.

One of my own goals during this internship was to better understand the topics I would be working on and how to translate that to an art piece build from the ground up.That's why I created a tutorial for future interns on how they can recreate the in game recipe icons!

Another focus of my internship was environment art. Since the new updated also included a new area I got to create some concept art for how one of the points of interest would look like and where it would be located.

At the end of my internship I had the chance to create some more outfit concepts for the game, this time with the added challenge of adding hats and hair accesoires to the game and how we could best implement them!We decided on dedicated hairstyles with each accessory as to not change up the whole character creation system.
