For this exhibit, I decided to take on the small details about a picture. Like the shine or weird shadows on a face or in an image. So I asked my mother for an image she wanted me to touch up. This is the final result.
Patch Tool
Brush
Camera Raw Filter
Image (kindly provided by my mom)
It really is the little things in life, isn't it? So I first applied a camera raw filter to the image, to make the brightness of the sand in the photo less intense and the overall brightness less intense. Then I focused on the shine on my mom's forehead and the weird shadows on her face from my dad's hat. The solution to the shine problem was actually using the patch tool, and sampling the skin near the spot. But, since it still tried to match the color of the pixels, it was still bright white. After sampling the skin color close to the spot I used the brush to match the skin color to the rest of my mother's forehead. Next, I moved on to the shadows. Using the patch tool again, I just pulled some spots directly next to the affected area and covered up those spots. Even though these changes are small, they bring the professionalism of the photo up.
I also liked this image and decided not to make any changes to it.
