Voice User Interface (VUI) Design

VUI Design is the specification of the interaction between a user and a computer system, where the primary interface is audio input and output. Input can include speech, or touch tone input in the case of a telephone system. Output is either pre-recorded audio snippets from a human, or computer generated speech using text-to-speech (TTS). An example VUI design is included below.

The design process also usually includes creation of a VUI Style Guide, which plays a similar role to the definition of a style sheet in web design. The purpose of this is to have a definition of the style to be followed in the authoring of the interface in order to ensure consistency. Parts of this include Persona definition. A sample VUI Style Guide template is also included below. As part of a design engagement, we work with you to create a Style Guide and design for your application.
