This after-school program is named in loving memory of Lillian Shizue Watanabe Maeda (October 16, 1919 to July 27, 2016), an extraordinary teacher who influenced generations of youth here in Hawaii and beyond. She taught at Wailuku Elementary School, played the piano and organ, became the first woman Moderator at Iao Congregational Church (later renamed Iao UCC), participated and led in many church-related organizations and activities.

Lillian is pictured below at different times in her life. Her devotion to children and life-long learning empowers the Iao UCC tutoring program.
