Service Projects

Doing service projects together is one way that Cub Scouts keep their promise “to help other people.” While a Scout should do their best to help other people every day by "doing a Good Turn", a group service project is a bigger way to help people. While you’re giving service, you’re learning to work together with others to do something that’s good for your community. Stay tuned for upcoming Service Project activities on Scoutbook or our Facebook Events Page.

Presidential Volunteer Service Award

Pack 654 is also a Certifying Organization for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. This award recognizes US Citizens and Permanent Residents who have achieved the required number of hours of service over a 12-month time period or cumulatively over the course of a lifetime. For Pack 654, this 12-month period runs from April 1 - March 31.

This is not an easy award to earn - Scouts (ages 5 - 10) will need to volunteer at least 26 hours over the course of the Pack Year to qualify for the Bronze level, and over 75 hours to achieve Gold. To qualify, these hours must be logged so they may be totaled up at the end of our Service Project year.

Volunteer hours should be tracked not just on Scoutbook but also on the PVSA website. Volunteers will need to create an account on the PVSA website and email our Service Project Chair Yoli Averitt to get our Certifying Organization Record of Service Key.
