Transport in Chisinau
Taxi from the airport
A fare from the airport to the city centre is around 150 lei or 8-10 euros if there is no traffic. Mostly all receive cash.
The information board is available in the arrivals area for the indicative price of travel, this will help you avoid overpaying for a journey. Use an authorised taxi service (parked in authorised locations) with a taximeter, automatic calculation on the basis of fixed fares and display of the amount to be paid, and compulsory issue of a receipt at the end of the journey.

You can get cash or exchange money (not a very good rate), including at automated teller machines (ATMS):

Public transport in the city
All public transport in Chisinau has the same fare 6 Lei = 0.31 Euro or 0.34 USD. For big luggage you may be charged 6 lei more.
On public transport, you pay inside to a controller in a special vest who issues a ticket and takes cash (they speak Romanian and Russian). They will approach you for payment. In some trolleybuses you can use cards, but you can check with the controller if it's available.

Around the city
Trolley buses are very popular and accessible. There are also bus routes.

You can walk from the centre to the university (Universitatea de Stat din Moldova).
Payments
Payment by card is widely accepted in Moldova, except for the urban transport, with the exception of the Transnistrian region (for those visiting this region: the banking system is different and Visa/Master cards are not accepted there. Cash with local money is the only option). The exchange is available in the citycenter and in all banks around during the working hours, and in private exchange places by 19:00
