About IONS

Established in 2006, IONS are three to five day student-managed conferences that occur around the globe on an annual basis. IONS conferences average 75 student attendees and there are at least five conferences each year.

The goal of IONS is to provide students with the opportunity to build a program where they can:

  • Engage with their peers by showcasing technical content they are currently researching.
  • Receive professional development training for career advancement.
  • Network with luminaries and lecturers from around the world to identify the latest advances in science and determine strategies for success as they look to take the next step in they profession.

About this online edition

The core goal for this virtual format of the IONS remains the same: for the students to have the opportunity to:


  • Engage with their peers by showcasing the technical content they are currently researching, through videoconference in Zoom.


  • Receive professional development training for career advancement, through the online educational fair where students will be able to inquire doubts and talk with different academic and industry members.


  • Network with luminaries and lecturers from around the world to identify the latest advances in science and determine strategies for success as they look to take the next step in their profession. All the online plenaries will pursue this target.
