Population has been increasing in Israel, and the country has been taking steps to continue to increase its ever-growing population. Israeli government policy to encourage population growth includes free schooling from the age of three, child allowances, and funding up to four years old for yearly fertility treatments. Furthermore, the government offers incentives to Jews living abroad and to Israeli emigrants to move to Israel.
The effort to increase the Israeli population has been effective, but not in the way the government intended. The population growth in Israel is where employment rates are the lowest, and there are land and water shortages. Employment rates are the lowest due to Israeli Arabs, where it's frowned upon for women to work. For Orthodox Jews, men devote themselves to religious studies and rely on women working low-paying jobs. Without the government making adjustments to fix this issue, it is seen that the debt burden will jump from 65% to 88% by 2059.
