PhD Student
I graduated in Biology at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). Motivated to keep learning about Molecular Biology and Genetics, I studied a Masters in Biomedicine in the Carlos III University of Madrid. Since my master thesis partly involved data analysis and statistics, my interest in areas such as Bioinformatics and Computational Biology started to grow, and I decided to apply for a Masters in Bioinformatics at UAM. At this stage, I learnt the fundamentals of genomics and acquired programming and computational skills. I did my master thesis in a genetic diagnostic specialised company where I worked on a project to develop a pipeline that automatically assigned genetic variants associated with a given clinical phenotype.
After working for a while in the Bioinformatics Unit at the UAM’s faculty of medicine, I had the opportunity of starting my PhD studies at the Integrative Genomics Lab run by Urko M. Marigorta in CIC bioGUNE (Derio, Bizkaia) in 2021, where I am working on different projects with the common aim of better understanding the genetics basis of disease in humans.
In my spare time, I like hanging out with my friends or doing some physical activity like playing football, the sport I have been playing since I was a child. As a curiosity about me, during the time that I was carrying out my studies, I also was playing football, and I did it actually in quite lots of teams, like for example in Rayo Vallecano, a famous football team from Madrid that you might know if you like football.
