In a nutshell, formative assessments are quizzes and tests that evaluate how someone is learning material throughout a course. They are used primarily as feedback, both to the student and to the teacher, for use in measuring effectiveness of both study and teaching.

Inquiry Project Assessment:
Did I ask questions that were open-ended and require deep thinking rather than simple recall?
Did I gather information from various sources and multiple perspectives, or go through multiple iterations of a design?

Did I understand and can clearly explain the main ideas and arguments in the evidence?
