"These are my favorite parts of a much longer poem called 'Variations of Home,' separated into three poems. With COVID restrictions came a natural inclination for self-examination; mine has focused on my many homelands, most of which were in Colorado, and, though I may only have passed through or lived for but a year or two in some areas, how each has become an important fiber of my being. In some ways, exploring these homelands has allowed me once again to travel to and admire them, replicating their idiosyncrasies with a specific style and pulse. Oftentimes it's childlike, mirroring my childish nostalgia and homesickness. In others, I've returned 'home' only to gain the strength to move on to new ones."
