Lesson 02
History and Basics
History and Basics
historical figures in computing
use of binary code
general programming
computing language
understanding bits and bytes
During the second week, I was finally getting into the swing of things as far as learning how computer programming started. One fact that stood out to me was that the first computer program was actually designed by a woman, Ada Lovelace. I loved to see this and learn more about Note G. Like I've mentioned before, I had very little experience in understanding computer language when I studied C++ in my previous courses, but getting to know how computers communicate is essential. I had no idea how a computer read 0's and 1's, but now I do! I also was able to create my own math equation to figure out the number coded into the eight-digit 0 and 1 combination. I found it really interesting that computers have their own language that can be understood and solved by them in just seconds, or even less than that! It took me a couple of minutes to solve the code from the binary statement from the discussion post; can you imagine if humans were the only ones that could decode this? Technology has us beat by a long shot.
