Course Blog

From the Reading Plan under Project 1, you will take the best of what you have found and during the first month of class post these articles, with a brief summary, on the INFO 250 Research Forum Course Blog. This is a WordPress blog that is a compilation of previous classes dating back to September 2012. It is interesting to archive and keep record of all that has been posted to see how the educational community has evolved.

Our mission is to collaboratively build the blog for current and future classes to build upon. You have the freedom and authority to use this blog to post anything you read, view, or listen to that you find relevant and noteworthy.

Please concentrate for the most part, on recent materials.

How to use the blog (our own created database:

  • Please limit one article or item per blog post. In other words, publish each item separately before posting a new one. This allows materials and conversations to be retrieved individually. You are free to post as many times as you feel appropriate.
  • When you share an article please include:
  1. Your name: Last, First
  2. Your main topic (i.e. CO)
  3. The bibliographic citation in APA format. Make sure to include a working link.
  4. A summary of the article in your own words.
  5. An evaluation or opinion of the article / research.
  6. CATEGORIES & TAGS are essential for users to search this blog. Select a category from the list on the right of the blog then create “tags” that are relevant to your article. (Think metadata). For more information click here.

LABEL CONTROLLED VOCABULARY KEY

The purpose of using controlled vocabulary labels in our blog is to assist all students who take this course (past, present, and future) to access and retrieve research content easily. The system is an easy one: All articles and research materials fall into one of the four main topics outlined in the Project 1 page.

Four Main Topics:

    1. Educational Theory and Practice (ET)
    2. Curriculum Assessment (CA)
    3. Collaboration (CO)
    4. Inquiry and Design (ID)

All other content (discussion posts, inquiries, entertainment, etc.) unrelated to research is labeled with the indicator Z.

Z = All other content

WARNING: The only way you can get access to this blog is through a link our graduate assistant will provide you. You will each get an invitation to join the blog and you have to do this within 24 hours. If you find you are locked out, ask the assistant to help you, but remember that this is a pain for the assistant to have to do over and over again. It is easy to just respond the first time and then keep the link handy. Thank you.
