To-Do List Before Workshop #1:

  • Send an email to Dr. L at reader.david@gmail.com with a note stating your class, section, semester, and Gmail address. If you don't have a Gmail address, get one. You will need it to access all of the Google tools we utilize in class. He will send you back an email message telling you that you are now on his contacts list.

  • Complete the Google Introduction Survey for this class: Google Form. (This is the same link that is on the home page of this site. Ignore the semester title.)

  • Get acquainted with this course website.

  • Get a free account on Symbaloo if you don't already have one. We will use it later in the semester.

  • Inspect several versions of the SAMR model on Google images and watch the video by Reuben Puentadura here.

  • Spend a few minutes getting acquainted with the Virtual Learning Commons templates for one level of schooling.

  • Check out the Design Center of Design Hall. What is a VLC? What is a Design Hall or Design Center? Look at these:

Elementary School VLC

Middle School VLC

High School VLC

Workshop Participation:

  • Due to the collaborative nature of our workshops (class meetings), attendance and participation are required.

  • There are 6 workshops scheduled for this course. 10 points are awarded for being present for the entire collaborative workshop. Attend all seven workshops for ten points each; 60 points total.

  • If you miss all or part of the workshop, watch the recording and write up review notes on what you missed and submit them to Canvas as a text entry under the "Workshop #" assignment listing. Dr. L will decide whether to award you more than five participation points.

  • Missed workshop summary notes must be received within one week of the workshop. Late notes receive zero points.

  • If for any reason you cannot attend a workshop, please email Dr. L in advance to let him know, and follow up ASAP by reviewing the recording so that you are kept in the loop and do not get off track.

Workshop Tips:

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early every time to run a quick audio check, to ensure your microphone and speakers are working.

  • We rely on everyone having a microphone in the workshops, as they are very collaborative and not a traditional lecture-only format.

  • Workshop agendas will be provided a few days before each workshop. Make sure to check back on this page to review each agenda before logging in. You will find it helpful in staying prepared and focused during the session.

  • The workshop activities will change as group needs dictate. They may change as late as the day of the workshop itself. Questions about content should be emailed directly to Dr. Loertscher.
