"RESPONSIVE CLASSROOM IS THE STUDENT CENTERED SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING APPROACH TO TEACHING AND LEARNING."
(2023 Responsive Classroom)
FIXED MINDSET: Thinking to yourself you will never be good at it!
"I JUST CAN'T DO IT...YET!"
Interactive modeling is a powerful responsive classroom technique!
Interactive Modeling teaches academic, social, and emotional skills! Student's learn when the teacher models! They will then know what is expected of them, and why the skill or routine is important.
Steps of Interactive Modeling
1. Say what you will model and why.
2. Model the behavior.
3. Ask students what they noticed.
4. Invite one or more students to model.
5. Again, ask students what they noticed.
6. Have all students practice.
7. Provide feedback.
TEACHER LANGUAGE
Motivates and Encourages! I would use it for positive identities for my students. For example, I would say for the Writing Workshop. Today we are going to become writers for a newspaper and write about our weekend news that we would like to share. This helps the students to form that vision that they are writers for a newspaper and writing becomes something fun to do.
Reinforcing language
Builds on strengths, not weakness! I would use it in my classroom for that extra boost of confidence a student may be trying to find. I want to use it for not only the students where content may come easy, but for students who may feel as though they may not get it as fast. For me as a teacher is to recognize their small achievements as well. For example, You did so well, matching the subject to the predicate. I cannot wait to read your sentences!
Keeps student's work and behavior on track! Discussing with my students that it is important to stay on task and set clear expectations, without overwhelming my students. For example, if a few students are being disruptive, I can say “ Can you show me where we are in the story?
When a student's behavior needs to stop immediately. It is important to be direct and specific! Instead of saying "Can you refocus on your writing, say "Please focus ion your writing now."

A CLASSROOM SHOULD ALWAYS FEEL SAFE AND WELCOMING!
Academic Choice can be used for three broad purposes:
1.To help children learn new skills or information
2.To help children practice new skills
3.To have children demonstrate mastery of skills or content
When teachers use Academic Choice to structure lessons, children become purposeful learners who engage in an activity because they want to, not because the teacher told them to. They take ownership and are motivated and interested.
Below there is a paper on my SMART goal I created, as well as a researched essay on a Responsive Classroom I wrote.
MORNING MEETINGS ARE A GREAT WAY TO START THE DAY!
Students can come into the classroom and teachers do not know how a student is feeling. Morning Meetings are a great way to incorporate into a classroom routine. Morning Meetings build a sense of community, trust, and builds on students social and emotional skills. They also know what their day will look like and this eases their anxiety and so they know exactly what to expect. Always start with 1. Greeting 2.Sharing 3. Energizer 4. Morning Message!
Below you will find two Morning meetings PowerPoints created by my partner and I!
Below is a Community Resource Pamphlet I created to familiarize myself with a school's Demographics, PTO's, and test data.
