Below are 10 Energizers you can incorporate in your everyday classroom!
#1 Calming Energizer
Students close their eyes and put their hands to their sides and pretend that each arm is one end of the rainbow. As you inhale slowly raise up your arms until your fingers touch your head and hold for 3 seconds. Then slowly left your arms down to your side as you exhale. Do as many as needed!
#2 Calming Energizer
Close your eyes and pretend that you are blowing bubbles through a a wand. Inhale deeply through your nose before letting out a nice slow breath to create a big bubble. Repeat more than once to feel relaxed!
#3 Energizer: Do What I Said, Not What I Say
Stand facing all the children and call out a command. Students must follow the previous given command, not the immediate one!
#4 Dino Dinner Chant
Practice saying the dinosaur chant together (as shown above) Clap hands on thighs to keep a steady beat! Different dinosaur names can be used!
#5 Five Plump Peas
Practice the words first, without movements. When you're ready to play, make sure children have enough room to spread their arms out safely. Practice a loud, safe clap.
#6 The Fidget Family
Students are assigned different roles from the story, which the teacher reads aloud. When a child hears their part, they either will stand up, sit down, or spin around. When the phrase "The Fidget Family" is read everyone spins around., stands, and sits back down.
#7 Boom Chicka Boom
This is a repeat after me song. The teacher will sing a line and the student will sing what the teacher said. Repeat the chant several times using a different volume or intonation each time.
#8 Alphabet Aerobics
As the teacher chants each letters' name, children imagine each lowercase letter in their minds (or refers to the classroom alphabet chart) and form the letter with their bodies.
#9 Answer This
The teacher will pose a question to the class. Each student then provides one word that combines with the previous words to create a complete sentence and answer the question . (As shown above)
#10 Awake, Alert, Alive
Practice singing the song togetehr (Can be sung to the tune "If You're Happy and You Know It") Model and practice actions for each word. Start slowly before speeding up.
