- Nuclear Reactors
This research line seeks to study themes related to different types of nuclear reactors, highlighting the study of the reactor core, heat transfer in reactors, materials and reactor shielding. Teaching and research activities in nuclear reactors are mainly linked to Reactor Physics, Reactor Engineering and Applied Nuclear Physics.
This line research line consists of the following areas:
Reactor Physics: Nuclear Data, Uncertainty and Sensitivity Analysis, Spatial Kinetics, Nuclear Computational Codes, Nuclear Data Parameterization, Macroscopic Shock Section Behavior Analysis for PWR Reactors;
Reactor Engineering: Heat Transfer, Reactor Safety, Nuclear Power Plant Life Extension;
Nuclear Materials: Nuclear Fuels, Life Extension of Nuclear Power Plants;
Advanced and Innovative Reactors Technology: Small Reactors, Fast Reactors (HTGR), Thermal Reactors, Fast/Thermal Reactors (MSR);
- Radiological and Nuclear Defense
This research line seeks to investigate themes related to radiation control in different environments and situations, with an emphasis on the study of materials and domain of technologies of interest to Radiological and Nuclear Defense in its broad aspect, with special interest in dual-use knowledge that meet to the needs of the Brazilian Army and contribute to the development of society. Therefore, dissertations are developed based on the analysis of:
SAFETY
Methods and techniques for determining indicators of pre-existing conditions and environmental impact due to anthropomorphic changes caused in different environments.
Techniques and methods for detection, monitoring and control of radiation from natural and artificial sources and their applications.
Radioprotection, dosimetry and radiation shielding applied to the safety of individuals exposed to different types of ionizing radiation.
Industrial applications of ionizing radiation, such as: radiotracers, industrial radiography and food irradiation.
Dual-use applications, of interest to Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defense - DQBRN - encompassing, among other matters, the development of computer programs used in radiological meters/identifiers to be used in DQBRN actions), research and development protocols/technical procedures to improve the metrological quality of the laboratory for the calibration of radiation meters and the study of materials for simple or multi-laminate radiological shielding.
Development of methods and techniques for the use of Radiopharmaceuticals, Radiotherapy and radiodiagnosis, different applications of Nuclear Medicine.
SECURITY
