André Ben-Hur da Silva Figueiredo - D.Sc., IME, 2007
Graduated in Physics from Rio de Janeiro State University (1985), Master in Nuclear Engineering from Military Engineering Institute - IME (2002) and Ph.D. in Materials Science from Military Engineering Institute (2007). He is currently an associate professor at the IME. He has experience in Materials Science, with emphasis in Magnetic Resonance, mainly on the following topics: nanostructured materials, magnetic resonance and nanoparticle synthesis by combustion waves (SHS). In addition, he works in the production and application of polymeric composites in ballistic and electromagnetic shielding.

Graduated in Mechanical Engineering from IME - Instituto Militar de Engenharia (1977), Master in Nuclear Engineering from IME (1983) and Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from University of Florida (1991). He is currently a professor/researcher at the IME, a researcher at the INCT in Innovative Nuclear Reactors, Ad-Hoc Consultant at CAPES. He has experience in Nuclear Physics, Nuclear Reactors and Power Generation. He works in the Power Generation area and also in its implications in the Environment. His teaching experiences include Calculus, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Instrumentation and Process Control, Atomic and Nuclear Physics, Neutron Transport, Nuclear Reactor Engineering and Oil Reservoir Engineering.

Graduated in Physics from Rio de Janeiro Federal University (UFRJ), in Environmental Management from Estácio de Sá University, Master in Nuclear Engineering from COPPE/UFRJ, Doctor in Toxicological Biochemistry (Radiobiology) from Santa Maria Federal University - UFSM and Universidad de León (Spain), Doctor in Nuclear Engineering (Applied Nuclear Physics) by COPPE/UFRJ and Post-Doctorate in Radioprotection and Dosimetry (Radioecology) by the Institute of Radioprotection and Dosimetry (IRD/CNEN). He is interested in biological effects of ionizing radiation and potential impacts of releases of radioactive material to the environment, including the field of Risk Assessment and Consequence Modeling. He is a permanent professor at the Postgraduate Programs in Nuclear Engineering (PPGEN) and Defense (PGED) at IME and a member of the Brazilian Society of Nuclear Biosciences (SBBN). He has experience in undergraduate teaching and in master's and doctoral level supervision and postdoctoral supervision at various institutions such as the Institute for Advanced Studies of the Aerospace Technological Center (IEAv/CTA), Aeronautics Technological Institute (ITA), Engineering Institute Nuclear (IEN/CNEN) and Institute of Radioprotection and Dosimetry (IRD/CNEN). Since 2010, he has represented Brazil as an OSI Inspector (On-Site Inspection) at the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) under the jurisdiction of the UN, whose headquarters are in Vienna (Austria). He is a visiting professor at the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), working on studies on potential environmental impacts and consequences arising from technological accidents. His interests and capabilities include (but are not restricted to) studies and projects on urban resilience development, social vulnerability, smart decision and risk assessment in disruptive scenarios.

He has a Course in Strategic Policy and Senior Management at the Army Command and General Staff College (1995). He was a professor at the Civil Engineering Course at Universidade Gama Filho. He is a professor in the Civil Engineering Course at Universidade Veiga de Almeida. He is a professor in the Postgraduate Program in Nuclear Engineering at the Instituto Militar de Engenharia. He was an advisor to the Technology Board of the Carlos Chagas Filho Foundation for Research Support in the State of Rio de Janeiro (FAPERJ). He was an evaluator of higher education institutions and undergraduate courses and a member of BASis / SINAES (MEC Ordinance No. 1,751). He has experience in academic planning, strategic planning and university management. He has experience in Civil Engineering and Nuclear Engineering projects and in fostering the development of medium and small companies in the technological area.

He is currently Head of the Department of Structures and Foundations at the Faculty of Engineering at UERJ, where, in addition to his supervisory role, he teaches Prestressed Concrete, Bridges I and Bridges II. He is a collaborating professor at the Military Institute of Engineering in the Fortification and Construction Engineering Section, where he teaches the discipline of Nuclear Shelters; carries out research and co-supervision activities in the Nuclear Engineering Program (Applied Nuclear Physics) at Coppe-UFRJ and is a collaborating professor in the postgraduate program in Nuclear Engineering at the Instituto Militar de Engenharia. He is currently a collaborating professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro and collaborating professor at the Instituto Militar de Engenharia.
