PRE-CONFERENCE INFORMATION-
Connecting the Dots: Using Best Practices to Bridge Literacy and Braille Presented by: Maura Guimon-Warren & Morgan Foreman
In this presentation, participants will review current best practices in braille literacy and tactile learning, discuss typical literacy assessment school-aged children participate in and how to best accommodate for visually impaired learners, and determine ways to streamline literacy instruction and braille instruction. Participants will then have an opportunity to create instructional materials from one (or more) of the following topics: reading assessments, braille literacy for dual media learners, materials for in-servicing others on braille reading, and pre- braille/early literacy.
This presentation is BYOB (Bring Your Own Braille Writer)
and other tactile materials-limited supplies will be
available.
