Yemens's Skies of Terror - Life in war zone
Akram is only 15 years old but has already lost a friend. His neighbors were killed when an air raid by the Saudi-led coalition hit their house in the old city of Yemen’s capital, Sanaa. Yemen’s Skies of Terror, an immersive film by Contrast VR, provides a rare glimpse of life inside Yemen.
Filmed by local journalists equipped with 360-degree cameras, the film fills the gap in today’s media narrative - the toll that the war in Yemen is taking on those who must live in constant fear of the skies.
Refugees
With no signs of the war in Syria ending, people continue to flee while refugees in neighboring countries lose hope of ever returning home. With many refugees being sheltered in the region for as long as four years, it comes as no surprise that the desire of moving west is growing dramatically.
After spending years with the inability to work or travel, the lack of education for children, and the overall increasing level of poverty, more and more refugees are taking a leap into Europe; an often expensive and extremely dangerous endeavour where insecurity and desperation are as real adversaries, as hunger and sheer discrimination.

Developing Countries
Public transport in developing countries (Ecuador)
The following video reflects the complex reality of road users who need to move around daily in different cities in Latin America and the Caribbean, facing barriers and obstacles that disable their mobility.
In this VR experience the user can move around the city of Quito with its protagonists: Margarita, Abu, Marco, Andrea, Pablo, Klever... and empathize with the inhabitants of the city and their mobility problems.
The original concept of universal design applied to transport suggests designing systems that are accessible and safe for all, particularly elderly, children, and persons with disabilities.
Sustainability
VR for SDGs
The VR for SDGs platform has been developed to help articulate challenges that need to be addressed to achieve the SDGs, through 360-degree/Virtual Reality (VR) videos.
We believe that 360-degree/VR videos have the power to allow viewers to experience social and environmental challenges in a way that conventional images or videos cannot, and provide a more immersive experience.

What to do if you are at school when a tsunami hits the city? Do you know how to survive inside a tsunami school? Where to run and what to do?
This video is a real virtual training that will show you how to survive a tsunami if you are in a school classroom.
A tsunami is a series of waves in a water body caused by the displacement of a large volume of water, generally in an ocean or a large lake. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions above or below water all have the potential to generate a tsunami.

Seeking Pluto’s Frigid Heart - NYT documentary
On July 14, 2015, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft zipped past Pluto, scanning the dwarf planet in unprecedented detail. Using data from that flyby, The New York Times created a seven-minute virtual reality film. Fly over Pluto’s rugged surface, stand among the icy al-Idrisi Mountains and touch down in frost-rimmed Elliot Crater.
The film was produced in collaboration with the Lunar and Planetary Institute and the Universities Space Research Association.
Mars VR - A Multi-Phase Approach to Developing Virtual Reality
The Mars Society is building a new open-source Virtual Reality platform — we call it “MarsVR” — that can be used for serious research towards the goal of sending humans to Mars. The MarsVR Program will be a multi-phase effort designed to pioneer the emerging field of CrowdExploration, which we define as the partnership between the first astronauts on Mars and the VR experts and enthusiasts back on Earth. We aim to establish the capability of using Virtual Reality to assist with the initial human exploration of landing sites. Phase I of the Mars VR Program will focus on designing training simulations for use at the Mars Desert Research Station, providing direct assistance in the training of MDRS crew members. We will also open-source the key elements of the platform so that the general public can freely make use of it to experience the exploration of Mars.
