Cost- cost to implement the solution
Accessibility- how easy it is to use
Trackability- does it track medicine well
Security- how easy it is to hack
In our matrix above, we rated 10 different alternatives to our solution of using dendrites to help us track medicines while providing value to end-users. We rated our alternatives on 4 factors: costs, accessibility/ how easy it is to use, trackability, and the security of the options. After our analysis, we identified dendrite’s 3 top competitors as QR codes, barcodes, and tracking numbers directly on the pills. Because of this, we should further analyze these solutions to help us fine-tune the use of dendrites in the pharmaceutical industry. When looking closer at these three alternatives, we identified a gap in security. While these top alternatives are effective in tracking medicine and relatively easy to use and implement, they are also easy to hack. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is important to both prevent counterfeit medicines and protect patients' information. Because of this, we are more confident in dendrites being a good solution due to their inability to be hacked. Moving forward, we will continue exploring and emphasizing the security aspect of dendrites.
