Travel to Canterbury

The Congress will be based at the University of Kent's Canterbury campus. The first two full days, Monday and Tuesday, will take place at Canterbury Cathedral, and the rest of the week will take place at the University.

The closest international airports are (in order of approximate travel time to Canterbury) London Gatwick, London Heathrow and London Stansted.

Canterbury is well connected nationally by bus and rail. There are two train stations, Canterbury West and Canterbury East. Eurostar train services to the continent are available from London St Pancras International.

If you arrive at London Stansted airport, you can take a coach to London Stratford International railway station and catch the high speed train from there to Canterbury West. If you arrive at London Gatwick airport, you can take a train to London St Pancras International and change there to the high speed train to Canterbury West. If you arrive at London Heathrow, you need to use the London Underground (Elizabeth or Piccadilly line) to reach London St Pancras International for the high speed train to Canterbury West. British train fares are very expensive by European standards, so ensure that you buy return rather than poor-value single (one-way) tickets and if possible Off-peak rather than dearer Anytime tickets. If you are travelling with others and doing further travel in the UK, it might be worth investing in a Friends and Family railcard. It gives a third off the cost of most train fares and is available from station ticket offices.
