About

The International Conference on History of Chemistry is a biennial conference which aims to bring together and facilitate communication between historically interested chemists, chemistry educators and historians of chemistry from all over Europe and beyond. The first ICHC was organized in 1991 in Veszprém, Hungary, and has since taken place in various locations in Hungary, in Estoril/Lisbon-Portugal, Leuven-Belgium, Rostock-Germany, Uppsala-Sweden, Aveiro-Portugal and Trondheim.

Each ICHC is organized under the auspices of The Working Party on History of Chemistry of the European Chemical Society (EuChemS). EuChemS is the parent organization for the national chemical societies, such as the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society (KNCV). The EuChemS consists of divisions or working parties (WP) representing the different fields within chemistry. The Working Party on History of Chemistry is the WP responsible for offering international conferences and other activities related to history of chemistry.
