IBII STAY 1 is a 50㎡ house in Ibii, a quiet fishing village on the Nichinan coast of southern Miyazaki. The beach is a one-minute walk from the door. Inside: high wooden beams, big windows and plenty of light. Outside: a garden and a covered deck — which is where most of the day happens

Hi, we're Kalo and Shotaro. We run both IBII STAY houses ourselves and live close by, so if you need anything — directions, a restaurant booking, a hand with your luggage — just message us and one of us is usually there within minutes.

We started IBII STAY because this stretch of coast still feels the way it always has: fishing boats heading out in the morning, neighbours who say hello, surf when the swell is right, and nights dark enough for a sky full of stars. We wanted to share that with travellers who like to slow down and live somewhere for a few days, rather than just pass through.

The beach and the river mouth
The beach is right outside. Where the river meets the sea the water is calm — our favourite spot for a swim, especially with kids. Surfers paddle out in front of the village; ask us about the currents before you go in.

A soak after the sea
Honoka no Yu, a small private onsen, is a five-minute walk away. It's open on weekends and public holidays, and you can book online.

Food
There are no shops or restaurants in the village — part of its charm — so stock up on the way in. The nearest supermarket is Bon Delis in Aoshima (15 min by car, closed Wednesdays), and there's a Lawson convenience store in Uchiumi (10 min). Shan Shan Chaya, two minutes away by car, serves lunch on weekends. Restaurants around here usually need a reservation; we're happy to call for you.

Day trips
Udo Shrine, built into a sea cave, is about 10 minutes away by car, and the old castle town of Obi about 20. Aoshima and its island shrine are an easy drive north; Cape Toi, with its wild horses, is further south.

Good to know ご注意

IBII STAY 1 sits inside a small fishing village, and we can run it thanks to our neighbours — please don't walk into nearby gardens or look around other houses, and keep the driveway clear when you park. Put out the BBQ and fire pit completely, and skip them on windy days. Smoking is fine outside, not indoors. There's a security camera at the front entrance.

Getting here アクセス

A car makes life much easier here. Miyazaki Airport is about 30 minutes away by car. From Miyazaki, follow Route 220 south along the Nichinan coast. The lane into the village is narrow (about 2 m), so small cars are best — bigger cars can use the free beach parking a minute away. By train, Ibii Station on the JR Nichinan Line is a 10-minute walk.

Booking and questions 予約・お問い合わせ

Send us your dates and number of guests with the form on our Book now page or on Instagram (@ibii_stay) — English is fine. Rates vary by season, group size and length of stay. You can check open dates in the calendar at the bottom of this page. Payment is by card in advance, through a secure link we email you once your dates are confirmed. Stays covered by the travel subsidy are paid at the house, in cash or by card. Full cancellation terms are on the Book now page. For stays using the travel subsidy, cancellation fees are based on the full price before the subsidy, because we register the booking with the government subsidy program at that price and must report any cancellation to it.
