We're dedicated to cultivating the next generation of innovators. Through dynamic outreach initiatives in our local communities, we strive to ignite curiosity and passion for FIRST and robotics from an early age. Our engaging workshops, hands-on demonstrations, and interactive events inspire young minds, introducing them to the captivating world of STEM. By fostering interest at this crucial juncture, we pave the way for a future generation of problem solvers and leaders in the realms of science, technology, engineering, and beyond.
In a heartwarming partnership with Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN), we embarked on a transformative journey to introduce the world of programming to special-needs children using Scratch. Throughout the school year of 2024-2025, we guided these young talents through over fifteen hours of exploration, unveiling the secrets of conditionals and loops, and immersing them in the captivating realm of Scratch's drawing and sound features. Our teaching was a symphony of adaptability, with two distinct groups—Beginner and Advanced—each session custom-tailored to harness the unique potential the group, ensuring their learning was as deep as possible.
During the week of July 10th to July 14th, 2023, a transformative educational experience unfolded. Team member Patrick orchestrated three-hour morning classes for a group of 20 students, ages 5 to 9, that left a lasting impression.
Guided by Patrick's adept instruction, each student delved into the captivating world of the Lego WeDo 2.0 education set. Building and programming became tangible avenues for creativity and learning. The classroom buzzed with innovation as young minds flourished, turning ideas into reality.
Beyond technical skills, Patrick introduced the students to the realm of FIRST robotics programs, igniting a flame of interest and possibility. The spark that ignited during these sessions planted seeds of potential in the hearts of many. The impact was profound, fostering a spirit of exploration and empowerment.
We meet with these young minds every week to teach them more about Robotics. In the classes we cover scratch programing as well as how to cad using Tinkercad.
An integral part of any city community is its library because of the opportunity it provides: a doorway into worlds of learning, creativity, and curiosity. These are all fundamental values essential to getting kids interested in and developing in STEM. In a cooperation with the Pleasanton Public Library's Coding Club program, we hope to inspire these traits in the kids we teach during weekly online coding classes. By personally introducing and guiding them through the world of Python, we hope to be the first step in these students' engineering journeys to come.
Hyperion's dedicated team member, Andrew Zhao, embarked on an enriching journey from July 21st, 2023, to August 25th, 2023, by conducting two weekly beginner Python classes, totaling over 30+ hours of tutoring and practicing. With unwavering enthusiasm and expertise, Andrew guided and inspired 10+ students, from 5th grade to 11th grade, through the fascinating world of Python. These classes were more than just learning sessions; they were a transformative experience in which budding programmers had the opportunity to explore Python and it's limitless boundaries. Under Andrew's expert tutelage, students delved into the fundamentals of coding, algorithmic thinking, and problem-solving, acquiring valuable skills that will undoubtedly serve them well in their future endeavors. Our team's dedication to nurturing the next generation of engineers is a testament to Hyperion's commitment to fostering innovation and technical prowess within its community. This event was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on all those who participated.
