Physical Activity

Encouraging young people to do some sport is not always easy. Obviously, there are many teenagers who do practice sport on a regular basis and are fond of spending their free time kicking, hitting or bouncing a ball, or even dancing. However, statistics show that more and more young people at our schools do tend to reject sport if not for aesthetic reasons. Some students do not like PE subject at school, many would never think of getting into it voluntarily.

Being physical activity one of the main pillars of a healthy lifestyle, our project aims at making more students keen on it and aware of why it is important. Hence, project activities are intended to allow participant students and teachers from the partner countries to learn about the sports which are more widely practised among their fellows abroad. During mobilities, guest students have the possibility to try these disciplines together and so, they can approach physical activity in a new enjoyable way. Furthermore, trekking and even sightseeing tours are always a good excuse to walk the recommended 12000 steps a day!

Apart grom that, each partner school has developed an after-school programme ("Get Fit!") for their own students to cater for a wider range of alternatives which makes it easier for them to find sport appealing. Furthermore, in some cases, activities are even open to the whole school community (teachers, families, friends, etc.) to spread a healthy lifestyle throughout the neighbourhood /village/town the school is set in. Moreover, we have also grouped a set of other activites into the so called "Fit in the Street" programme, which include all those non-formal physical exercise which students already do in their free-time, when they are hanging out with their friends (e.g. parkour). We want them to realize that it is sport indeed as well as disclose it to lay people who might join it.

These are the sports we tried during mobilities:
