WE LIVE. WE DON'T JUST EXIST.
WE QUICKLY ADAPT TO CHANGES.
WE GRACIOUSLY TRANSCEND OUR LIMITATIONS.
by Edygrace B. Benturado
Life is actually a series of encounters in which one event may change those that follow in a wholly unpredictable, even disturbing way. -Chrichton
Pagsulang is a hiligaynon word which means a meeting or an encounter in order to go in or to enter. Since 2019, the world has entered into a new year. With new hopes, came the opportunity and the responsibility of creating a world that we, the youth, can find our place in. With the challenges that lie ahead and the observance of stringent health protocols, the next normal requires fresh thinking and radical perspectives. With God’s help and our collective endeavors, we can surmount all the trials. Just like everything else, getting back on track will require some tinkering since this has become our new normal. If there is one thing we have all learned through the pandemic, it is that life goes on.
PAGSULANG is our way of encountering the goal of being a CHAMPION. To be a champion, we have to see the big picture. It's not about winning and losing; it's not about looking at the dark or bright side of life. It is about every day hard work and about thriving on a challenge. It's about embracing the pain that we experience at the end of a race and not being afraid. Champions are not the ones who always win races - champions are the ones who get out there and try. And try harder the next time. And even harder the next time. They compete to best themselves as much if not more than they compete to best others. The vision of a champion is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion, when nobody else is looking.
PAGSULANG will serve as a platform for us to have conversations that will enable us to look ahead in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. This learning exhibition intends to recharge us with better energy and momentum despite the disruption. It is an academic effort to encourage discourse on the new normal situation. We maximize the use of online application through Google Sites to showcase our learning experiences and build 21st century skills of communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. We are also here to seek silenced or expressed narratives and histories; those that relate to our discipline and those that inspire us to echo our voices and choices.
The year ahead has to start right, with the most important dialogue, so that it ends right. Hence, PAGSULANG as the theme of our learning exhibition, is our unique way of Strengthening the Quality of Education Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic.
SEE the video below and embrace us in our boldest thoughts.
The Essay below was written to highlight an encounter with the new normal. An encounter of human interest. An encounter of unseen battles and an encounter of future concern for a better normal.
