Salvia purple majesty

We grew Purple Majesty for the first time in 2004, and we were not disappointed. The first blossom opened on August 28, 2004 and a hummer was seen at it for the first time on August 30. Purple majesty was extensively used during the fall migration. The larger than life purple flowers are stunning and we could not allow this plant to die in the ground. So, we dug it up and are overwintering it in our attached 3 season room where the temperature is approximately 50 degrees during the winter (thanks to an electric space heater).

One drawback of this plant is that the stems are brittle and can easily break off due to wind.
