Justicia brandegeana

Prior to 2005, we would have said that we have had variable success with shrimp plant, perhaps because we have so many other good hummingbird attracting plants in our yard. One of the interesting things about hummingbird gardening is that every year is different. In 2005, the hummers used this plant fairly extensively. This is a fun plant due to its unusual flowers, and we always have a smile on our faces when we see a hummer go to Shrimp plant. This is clearly an annual for us and we have grown it in a hanging basket from a shepherd's hook. (We have seen huge shrimp plant shrubs in the south where this can be grown in the ground.)
