The first step in the process of becoming a Real Estate Agent is completing a 60 hour course of training approved and accredited by the state of Alabama, through AREC.
When a student completes the course of instruction they must take and pass a course final exam before they will be allowed to sit for the state licensing exam. Every effort will be made to make the course final as challenging as the state licensing exam to ensure students have the requisite knowledge to pass it, and to give them confidence in their knowledge going into the state exam.
You will have six months to register and take the state exam once you complete the pre-license course.
You will need to visit the following website to make your appointment to take the state exam.
You will have 90 days after passing the state exam to find a broker to work with. Keller Williams in Alabaster and Homewood are two great real estate offices to interview to help you with your choice.
Call Kaye Cash at the Keller Williams office in Alabaster or Kathy Tomaszewski at the Keller Williams office in Homewood.
Now that you have your temporary license, you will have 6 months with an active license or 12 months with an inactive license to complete your post-license course.
*** Please don't wait until the last minute to get this done! ***
As soon as you get your temporary license from your broker, schedule your post-license course. Upon completion, you will receive your original license to practice real estate.
When you complete your post-license course, it will count towards your first required CE courses.
Once you have your original license, you will be required to take 15 hours of continuing education every licensing cycle. Six hours must be risk management courses. The remaining 9 hours are elective.
