The business was established by Eric and Leeann Weaver with the first small herd of water buffalos arriving in Darwin in 2005. The original herd came from a property in Queensland and were transported to Darwin by road.

Over the years the small herd grew to over 700 head, with animals sourced from properties in Queensland, NT, WA and Arnhem Land.

The farm has now grown to support over 1000+ animals, with a number of females now being bred on the farm.

Water Buffalo Farming Australia is the premier supplier of water buffalo milk and milk products to the Australian and Asian markets.

Water Buffalo Farming Australia has been a leader in sustainable dairy farming in the Northern Territory for over 30 years. Our farm is located at Humpty Doo, just south of Darwin. The property covers over 1000 hectares of tropical savannah grassland and wetlands and features state of the art infrastructure and facilities, incorporating world leading animal husbandry practices and technology.

Water Buffalo are a hardy breed that thrive in the tropical climate of the Top End and enjoy a diet of native grasses. Water Buffalo produce high protein milk which is used to make famous Italian style cheeses such as Mozzarella, Ricotta, Scamorza and Stracciatella.

Water Buffalo Farming Australia produces these authentic cheeses from our own water buffalo herd for sale to the Asian market through our Singapore based company, Cheeses of Asia Pte Ltd.
