Come Check Out Our New Library!

Our new House of Prayer library is taking shape in our Comfort Room; teen & adult books, videos, study materials and Bibles are on the shelves along the east wall, and children’s books are in the bookshelf on the west wall.

Come take a look at what’s available for your reading and inspirational pleasure. The library operates on an honor-based system, so you may take whatever you wish, and return it when you are finished with it. You are also invited to contribute your own gently-used Christian books to the library. Let’s keep it and ourselves growing!

The library is open before and after services, and any time anyone is in the church building – during meetings, confirmation classes, and when our secretary/custodian is onsite. If you’re not sure if anyone will be there, please call the church before you come. When you arrive, go to the church office entry.

Book of the Week

The Case for Christ

by Lee Strobel

This book is a most thorough investigation of the existence of Christ and the Christian faith. Lee Strobel was an atheist. His wife became involved in a church. He was so upset that he decided to do an investigation to prove the church wrong. Strobel worked as a legal editor for the Chicago Tribune. He knew how to ask the hard questions to uncover evidence. He cross-examined dozens of experts with doctorates from schools like Cambridge, Princeton and Brandeis. He raised questions like; How reliable is the New Testament? Does evidence exist for Jesus outside of the Bible? Is there any reason to believe that the resurrection was an actual event? This book is a riveting quest for the truth about history’s most compelling figure.

You’ll want to read it for yourself. Or you may take the DVD of the story with a four-week guide book to make a group study. WIKIPEDIA lists 12 adult books and 4 children’s books. We have five of his adult books in our new library.

Through Strobel’s investigation, he became so thoroughly convinced of the reality of Jesus that he became a teacher of apologetics and pastor at churches in Illinois and Texas. We can all learn a lot from this gifted writer.
