For 3 days over October 2 thru 4, 2026, the 2026 Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta (HTSR) occurred on the Rappahannock River in Virginia. We had 67 boats registered for the 31st year running of the HTSR which was a huge success. We had GREAT weather for our Friday activities and an amazing Happy Hour with the live band "Deadrise" serenading the crowd. On Saturday there was some rain but a good amount of wind for the race. Then after everyone returned safely from a super day of sailing it was time to celebrate with the live band "Curtis Knocking" and some dancing fun. The closing race on Sunday was also a little rainy, but all went well and the closing ceremonies occurred with such splendor. Thank you to all our sponsors, volunteers, captains, boat sponsors, vendors, patrons, supporters, contributors, and donors.

Admiral - $2000 and above
Captain - $1500-$1999
Commodore - $750 -$1499
First Mate - $250-$749
Sailor - up to $249
The Golden Burgee is a donation in which an individual makes a donation and is provided a "Golden Burgee" flag to fly proudly on display, such as on their boat. The Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta is one of the largest regattas on the Chesapeake Bay and the second-largest Hospice Regatta in the United States. It is co-sponsored each year by the Rappahannock River Yacht Club (rryc.org) and Yankee Point Yacht Club (ypyc.us). Shoreside activities include happy hour, music, meals and awards on the grounds of the Rappahannock River Yacht Club on Carter Creek.

Thank you to the Tides Inn who once again offered slips to Hospice Turkey Shoot Regatta competitors at half the normal slip rate.
Called a Turkey Shoot at its inception as it was then held the day after Thanksgiving, it was moved to early October to attract more racers due to warmer weather and separation from a major holiday. The name "Turkey Shoot Regatta" has been retained in part to distinguish this regatta from others also under the umbrella organization-- the National Hospice Regatta Alliance--and this regatta has grown to become one of the largest in the US.
All proceeds go to Hospice Support Services of the Northern Neck and Riverside Hospice agencies (please see our donate page).
Note that although Google Maps indicates the RRYC is adjacent to Rappahannock Yachts - the Rappahannock Yachts business has been sold and is no longer operating.
