Albert & Elsie Flatau - Fiftieth Anniversary

On August 11, 1968, the children of Albert & Elsie Flatau hosted a Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary celebration for their parents. Below is the newspaper article that was printed describing the event.

About 300 relatives and friends gathered at the 4-H Building in Perham on Sunday, August 11, to honor Mr. and Mrs. Albert Flatau on their golden wedding anniversary.

Albert Flatau and Elsie Beckmann were married on January 15, 1919, at the home of the bride's parents in Edna township. Rev. J. Eitel officiated. Their attendants were Clara Beckmann, Emil Beckmann, Minnie Woessner, and Louis Flatau. They have spent most of their married life and still reside on a farm near Perham. They have two daughters and two sons: Violet (Mrs. W.E. Johnson) Port Angeles, Washington, Rhoda (Mrs. Bud Koehnen) Lodi, California, Vernon of Mahnomen, Minnesota, and Rodney on a farm in Hobart township. There are 23 grandchildren. All of the children and two of their attendants, Clara Beckmann (Mrs. Alex Walther) and Emil Beckmann were present for the occasion.

Their children acted as hosts and hostesses at the reception on Sunday. A short program was given by the grandchildren, Mrs. Joe Krueger, friend of the family read an original poem. Vernon Flatau acted as master of ceremonies. Granddaughters were at the guest book, gift table, and punch bowl. Mrs. Fred Flatau and Mrs. Joe Krueger poured. Mrs. Elmer Eickschen and Mrs. Ben Mohr cut the anniversary cake. Zion's Evening Guild served.

Parks and Mrs. Myra Lewis, Ponchatoula, La, Mrs. Gene Fox, Tulsa, Okla, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Walther, Mr. Alan Walther and Greg, Lodi, California, Mr. and Mrs. Anker Friestad, Crookston, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Beckmann, Hinkley, Mr. and Mrs. Art Beckmann, St. Louis Park, Mr. and Mrs. Walt Flatau, Don and Joanne, St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Fossen, Jr., Stillwater, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Flatau of Port Angeles, Wash.
