Relationships between Flatau, Mathes, Miller, Kuniholm & Holz: Tillie (Miller) Mathes, wife of Herb Mathes, is the daughter of Ida (Flatau) & Herman Miller. Ida's father, Johan Flatau, and Albert Flatau's grandfather, Daniel, are brothers. Polly (Miller) Kuniholm, Tillie (Miller) Mathes, Amanda Miller, Marie Miller & Otto Miller (pictured above) are brothers & sisters. Bill Holz is the son of Emma (Miller) (Holz) Carow. Emma is the oldest daughter of Ida & Herman Miller. She is not pictured above. The Miller children are: Emma, Anna, Polly, Tillie, Marie, Amanda, & Otto. Bill Holz's father, Fred Holz passed and Bill's mother married William Carow (Walter Carow's brother). Walter Carow is the father of Lorraine (Carow) Flatau. Bill Holz married Pearl Flatau, the daughter of Ernest & Mabel Flatau.
On October 3, 1926 Albert & Elsie Flatau arrived in Portland, Oregon and stayed at Walt and Ida Locke’s place (Albert’s sister). A two-car garage was fixed up for living quarters and the family lived there. Grandma Marie stayed at Locke’s house.
The Miller's lived in Oregon and were Albert's relatives. Polly (Miller) Kuniholm, Amanda Miller, Otto Miller, Marie Miller & Tillie (Miller) Mathes were the five youngest children of Herman & Ida (Flatau) Miller. Ida is the daughter of Johann & Teresa Flatau. Emma (Miller) (Holz) Carow, & Anna (Miller) Wewer, the two oldest Miller children, were not at this gathering in April 1927 at Walt & Ida Locke's place in Portland, Oregon. Emma's son, William 'Bill' Holz was present.
