Historical Values
During the Post World War II era, Brazil had a heated political debate, especially since the suspension of the elections happened in 1937, and the reimersion of it in late 1945. With a lot of the political parties wanting their representative to win, fundraising and merchandise were spread throughout Brazil, trying to win the people’s vote. One of the most popular presidential candidates was a military brigadier named Eduardo Gomes. Gomes supporters were thinking of ways to help support his platform. They eventually came up with the idea of Brigadeiro. The idea of this candy was that it was more fun than the traditional political merchandise being handed out.
