History Book "Portrait of Wellington Heath"

The volume “Portrait of Wellington Heath” was written by Peter Garnett and published as a limited edition in 2002.  Peter had been a teacher at John Masefield High School for many years before his retirement prior to the Millenium and was deeply involved in the community of Wellington Heath, contributing to the Village Hall Committee, the Parish Council and the Church.  He was an expert on local botany, ecology and history and set about writing the book to record the history of the village so that much local knowledge and the reminiscences of our older residents were preserved for future generations.  Allan Wood from the village contributed much of the original photography to the book, and digitised many old photographs contributed by older residents and ex-residents. Allan also captured many historical maps and documents to be included as illustrations in the book.  Photographs from the “Ledbury Reporter” added further to the illustrations. Printed by The Vale Press Limited, and published by Allan Wood, the initial print run of the book sold out very quickly at the cover price of £12.

As time has progressed and the village population has renewed itself, there has been repeated interest in reprinting the volume.  Unfortunately, the original typesetting is no longer available, but re-typesetting the book is under consideration.
