Pegs Farm

Pegs Farm, originally known as Pig’s Farm, is a fine old 14th century timber framed house probably the oldest in the Parish. It is one of only ten in Herefordshire to use the rare base-cruck construction. It was built by a wealthy man. The hall was in the centre with a service wing on the left and a solar on the right (a solar contained the private quarters of the owner). In the 16th century the hall was divided into two storeys and a chimney was added. In the 17th century the solar wing was extended. Occupiers of Pegs Farm included Richard Nash 1693, Leonard Hill 1700, William Nott 1768, William Allen 1793, John Wiltshire Bishop and Mrs Eliza Bishop 1869 to 1922.
