Short Bio

Hiroshi Mukunoki is a Professor of Economics at Gakushuin University, Japan. Before moving to Gakushuin U, he was a JSPS Research Fellow (PD) at the University of Tokyo, Japan. He was a visiting professor at Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia (UBC), Canada, from Sep. 2008 to Aug. 2010, a visiting professional fellow at the School of Economics, the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney, Australia, from Sep. 2022 to Dec. 2022, and Visiting Professor/Scholar at the Department of Economics, Toronto Metropolitan Universit, Canada, from Jan. 2023 to Aug. 2023. Hiroshi obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Tokyo in 1999 and 2006, respectively. He received his B.A. in Economics from Yokohama National University, Japan, in 1997.

His primary research interests are in international trade, regional trade agreements, and foreign direct investment. He has published many papers in refereed journals, including Journal of International Economics, International Economic Review, Economic Theory, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, World Bank Economic Review, International Tax and Public Finance, and Review of International Economics. He won the Kojima Kiyoshi Prize in 2023 and the Oda Prize in 2012 from Japan Society of International Economics. One of his papers won the Kanematsu Fellowship from RIEB of Kobe University in 2001.
