Hodaka Morita

Hodaka Morita is a Professor of Economics at Institute of Economic Research at Hitotsubashi University (Tokyo Japan), and an Associate Editor of Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization. His research focuses on applied microeconomic theory, where his main fields of interests are industrial organization, organizational economics, labor economics, and international trade.

Hodaka has published in top academic journals including American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, Economic Journal, RAND Journal of ​Economics, Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of International Economics, European Economic Review, Journal of Law, Economics & Organization, and Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization. He was appointed as an Australian Research Fellow by the Australian Research Council (2009 - 2013), and held visiting positions at Cornell University, Hitotsubashi University, Kobe University, University of Southern California, University of Tokyo, Queen's University, Research Institute of Economy, Trade, and Industry (RIETI), and Competition Policy Research Center at Japan Fair Trade Commission.​

Hodaka's current research interests include intrinsic motivation and nonprofit organizations, partial equity ownership, asset specificity and firm-specific human capital, behavioral approach to the theory of the firm, formal contracts and holdup problem, aftermarket services and technology spillovers in international trade, horizontal mergers in vertical sctuctures, product architecture and intra-firm coordination, and structures of legal profession.

Hodaka enjoys bush walking, wilderness exploration, skiing, and hotsprings with sake tasting.
