The summer before senior year is a great time to get started on your college essays and resume. Consider planning and writing a few drafts of your Common App essay early on so that others can revise it and give you constructive feedback. Also start working on your resume and brag sheet, since this will be used for writing your letters of recommendations, college applications, and scholarships. You can begin working on your Common App profile as early as August 1st, and you can take advantage of this to create your account and start filling in your information.

Silver Knight is a prestigious recognition and award in Miami-Dade and Broward county. Every year, each public and private school in both districts nominates one student to represent each category, due to their outstanding academic and community service excellence. To apply for Silver Knight you must have initiated your OWN service project and have a minimum 3.2 GPA. Your school's preliminary application will be announced towards the beginning of your senior year so be on the lookout for announcements and informational sessions. Senior year can be stressful with college applications, applying for financial aid, and scholarships. However, don't forget to breathe and take it slow. When you finish applying or start getting accepted to universities, do NOT slack on your grades. Universities will see your mid-year report and final transcript, do not give them a reason to revoke your admission. Continue your involvement in your extracurriculars, stay on top of your classes, and get the AP college credit you have worked hard to earn.
