Dual enrollment courses are a great way to increase the rigor in your curriculum and obtain college credits. Both MDC and FIU offer dual enrollment opportunities to students who meet their eligibility requirements.
Tuition, fees, and textbook costs are waived meaning you can earn college credits early on for FREE
Will earn college credit with a passing grade in class rather than based on your score in an end-of-course exam (like AP credits)
Classes count towards BOTH your high school and college
Hundreds of class options and curriculum flexibility
Can help you accumulate enough college credits to graduate college early
Opportunity to graduate with both your high school diploma and A.A
Your grades in D.E classes will affect BOTH your high school and college GPA
Course difficulty will be at college-level, making D.E more rigorous than high school classes
College classes require discipline, time management skills, and organization
Only in-state universities tend to accept the majority of D.E credits, meaning those wishing to go out-of-state will likely have to re-take classes
Private in-state universities might not accept certain D.E credits if the class title differs from their own (ex: ENC1101)
Minimum 3.0 high school unweighted GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
Received college ready placement test scores on one of the following: PERT, SAT, ACT
For more information about how to apply and about the program please utilize the resources below. And don't forget to speak with your counselor if you are interested in enrolling in D.E classes!
