Objectives

The aim of the module is for the student

• becomes acquainted with the behavior of mathematical models using a derivative

• acquires an illustrative understanding of the limit value and continuity of a function

• understand the interpretation of a derivative as the rate of change of a function

• is able to determine derivatives of simple functions

• can derive combined functions

• masters behavior of functions using a derivative and is able to determine their extremes in a closed range

• be able to use software to study limit value, continuity and derivative in connection with applications.
