In fifth grade, we emphasize the PRIDE standards of behavior - Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Determination, Empathy. We also frequently discuss safety and hold students accountable for acting in ways that keep everyone safe.
We set routines and habits for good behavior and practice them often! When students know exactly what to expect and what they should be doing, it makes it that much easier for them to do the right thing. We give positive rewards, like PRIDE tickets, to students who are going above and beyond in demonstrating the 5 PRIDE attributes. When students struggle to make a correct choice, we ask them to take a break. If the behavior continues, they will be given an opportunity to reflect on their choices with a think sheet, which is then sent home to be signed and returned. We ask that if your child comes home with a think sheet, that you speak with them about their behavior and encourage them to make the better choices. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
