Week of May 5th
Math:
Students will continue to review and test on previously taught units. We will test on unit 11 on Monday. Tuesday students will review the year's concepts with a final assignment.
Students will spend the next few weeks jumping into 6th grade concepts.
Reading:
Students will read, discuss, and summarize A Spy by Chance. There will be a comprehension test on Friday.
For grammar lessons, students will work on verbs and adverbs.
Students will continue researching one of the National Parks in order to write a final paper on their chosen park.
Spelling:
Spelling words and packet can be found in Google Classroom. We are working on Unit 5 Lesson 5.
Science Labs
Students will continue to work through the steps of the scientific method. This week, our focus is on writing a conclusion.
Students should be working on their science fair project, which will be due on May 13th.
Reading - Open Court

Writing - Step Up To Writing

The solution’s explicit and systematic approach to teaching writing is designed to provide clear strategies, methods, and supports for increased writing success in all content areas.
Math - HMH Into Math
A K-8 math curriculum, HMH Into Math supports students as they develop their conceptual understanding and grow into procedurally fluent mathematicians.
Science - FOSS
FOSS was designed from its roots to provide every child with the opportunity to develop their ability to think scientifically. The FOSS staff at the Lawrence Hall of Science devised FOSS to fully integrate active investigation and multisensory learning, an approach proven effective for all learners, regardless of prior knowledge, language, or background.
Social Studies - TCI
The TCI approach to Social Studies Curriculum Resources and Programs integrates proven teaching strategies, engaging content, and meaningful technology to excite students and foster their love of learning.
