The most important homework in fifth grade is to read for at least 30 minutes EVERY night! It is important to expose your child to a variety of genres. (Fiction, Realistic Fiction, Non Fiction, Poetry, etc.) Reading and discussing books is a fun way to share time with your child.
In addition to reading, your child may or may not come home with work not completed in class. If your child fails to return their homework the following day, I will send you a notification.
Students need to be prepared for a weekly spelling quiz, given every Friday.
Homework Guidelines- From the school handbook.
The following guidelines help parents and students understand the amount of time a typical
student might spend nightly on homework. Since not all students have the same environment or
work at the same speed, any concerns should be discussed with the teacher to make
accommodations if necessary.
Kinder-2nd Grade 30 minutes (including 15 minutes of reading)
3rd-4th Grade 45 minutes (including reading)
5th-6th Grade 60 minutes (including reading)
7th-8th Grade 90 plus minutes (including reading)
