Homework

If your child is in my literacy class, your child will have a list of spelling words to practice and study in preparation for a Friday quiz. On occasion, unfinished work may need to be completed at home. 

If your child is in my math class, your child will have a daily math practice sheet which is due the following day. Often times, they will be able to begin this sheet in class, and some may finish without needing to work on completing it at home.  All worksheets will be posted in Google Classroom if an additional copy is needed. 

Perhaps the most important homework in fifth grade is to read for at least 30 minutes EVERY night! It is important to expose your child to a variety of genres. (Fiction, Realistic Fiction, Non Fiction, Poetry, etc.) Reading and discussing books is a fun way to share time with your child. 

Homework Guidelines- From the school handbook.

The following guidelines help parents and students understand the amount of time a typical

student might spend nightly on homework. Since not all students have the same environment or

work at the same speed, any concerns should be discussed with the teacher to make

accommodations if necessary.

Kinder-2nd Grade 30 minutes (including 15 minutes of reading)

3rd-5th Grade 45 minutes (including reading)

6th-8th Grade 80 minutes (including reading)
