Testing & Evaluation

Testing

User Interface

Wireframes and low fidelity prototypes can be used to inform testing of the user interface:

  • Does the implemented interface match the wireframe design?

  • Does the interface take account of end user requirements such as accessibility?

Navigation Testing

A test should be carried out on all internal and external hyperlinks to ensure they work and navigate you to the correct page.

Links that are designed to open files must be checked to ensure they open a file and that it is the correct file.

Any navigation bars and buttons must also be checked to ensure they do what they’re supposed to do.

Media Testing

All media elements such as:

  • graphics

  • animations

  • audio

  • video

should be checked to make sure they display or play and that there is not issue in terms of resolution and quality.

Consistency

Each page in your website should have a consistent:

  • Layout

  • Font

  • Text size

  • Colour scheme

  • Navigation section

Evaluation

Fitness for purpose

A website is deemed fit for purpose if:

  • it meets the end-user requirements determined at the analysis phase

  • it meets the functional requirements determined at the analysis phase

  • If the website is not fit for purpose, it will be necessary to revisit previous phases of the development process.
