1. Have a light breakfast, get some fresh air and relax, trust in your preparation. Close your eyes and imagine yourself on stage, being amazing, being awesome and playing well. Positivity and confidence is what will set you apart.
2. Come to school at least an hour before your scheduled time and check in with your teacher outside the performance area.
3. Do warmups (look at the performance tab), listen through your pieces and go through your song plan. Stretch. Literally. Stretch.
4. Chat to your ensemble, remind them of your order and sing/play soundchecks with them. Viva students, look through your summary sheet and say the core aspects out loud.
5. Wait outside the performance area 30 minutes before your time. Sing/play through your songs softly/in your head. Bring everything you might need. Water, pens, paper, song plan, pedals, guitars, batteries, spare strings, hand towel (for palms that are sweaty, mom's spaghetti). Again, close your eyes and visualise yourself performing well on stage.
6. A marker will come out and call you in, take your song plan in with you
7. Put your song plan on the side table next to stage and take a second to read through the first page. Put it down and go onto stage and run your soundcheck.
8. After the soundcheck finishes, sing through the first few phrases of the song in your head, get into the groove of the piece, then count in.
9. BE AMAZING
10. Stay in character right until the end of the piece, once you've had a couple of seconds of silence, then go back to the side table, look at your song plan and take a sip of water. Chat to your ensemble quickly, let them know your sound check and repeat step 8.
11. After you've finished, politely say thank you and leave the room quietly - celebrate with your teacher on the outside.

This is a great video on how a few drummers approach the same song. Great feedback as well - have a think about some of the musical decisions you make in your songs!
While the video is about piano composition, they've gone to a lot of trouble to do some really cool live analysis - a great review of creative ideas but a very cool way to look at analysis in real time.

We talk a lot about being in the 'pocket' when we perform. Great performances have all musicians in the pocket - it's about how you accent, how you feel the beat and how you communicate the beat to each other. This is a good example of a band being in the 'pocket'
Another great example of a band being locked in to the 'pocket'. The ideas can be very simple but they all contribute to a balanced and cohesive groove/vibe/feeling.
